Mako Robotic Surgery
Mako Robotic Hip & Knee Replacements
Pioneering Precision Surgery
The Mako robotic arm is a surgical robot that assists Mr Chou to perform hip and knee replacement surgery with increased precision. Patients can feel less pain, have a quicker recovery, and can gain better motion and joint function. Over time there will likely be fewer surgical revisions than standard hip and knee replacement surgeries.
Meticulous pre-operative planning
Using the robot, Mr Chou is able to perform individualised, patient-specific surgery with meticulous 3D pre-operative planning to inform implant size and positioning.
Fine adjustments during surgery
Throughout the surgical procedure, the robot provides precise data to Mr Chou so that fine adjustments can be made to ensure accurate positioning of implants, resulting in a well balanced, highly functioning joint replacement.
Optimising leg length and
hip stability
The robot allows Mr Chou to be more consistent with achieving equal leg lengths and likely minimises the risk of hip dislocation.
Better
The robotic arm assists Mr Chou with making precise bone cuts, to remove the diseased bone, without damaging any of the surrounding soft tissues, nerves and blood vessels.
